THE General Body updates community on current initiatives

Dear SU/ESF community,

Here are some major updates with regards to organizing at SU/ESF. Please join us!

— THE General Body will hold a press conference on Tuesday, April 7, 4 p.m., Hall of Languages 500, that will detail a variety of pressing issues, including updates on student health insurance, the druggings of law students, Divest SU/ESF, ADA coordinator, mental health care and Paris Noir. This comes on the heels of the administration denying a meeting between THE General Body, the chancellor and his executive team. It will be great to have people turn up for that https://www.facebook.com/events/1471031746452553/

— For a description of our recent interactions with the chancellor’s administration, please read these blog posts: http://thegeneralbody.org/2015/04/01/the-general-body-requests-a-meeting-with-chancellor-syverud/ and http://thegeneralbody.org/2015/04/05/update-a-message-to-the-suesf-community/

Last night we met with dozens of grad students — and some undergrads — including many members of the Graduate Student Organization and planned, along with the GSO:

— A Health Insurance Rally on Thursday April 9. Meet at noon at Hendricks Chapel with a march to Health Services. More info to come.

— There is also a GSO meeting on unionization: Wednesday, April 8, 5:30 p.m., Eggers 010. We will make signs for rally afterwards!

— Further big all-issues rally, Tuesday, April 14, Noon, Hendricks Chapel steps.

— We drafted a letter people can send to their grad departments about the health insurance changes here: http://thegeneralbody.org/2015/04/04/message-to-su-graduate-program-directors-regarding-the-changes-to-health-care/

And we look forward to your further involvement with TGB. We have many more things to change and to protect at SU/ESF to make this a safer, better place for all.

Thank you,
THE General Body
