The 5-foot-7 New Jersey native redshirted her freshman season with the Gators to rehab a torn ACL. Young averaged 2.1 points in 15 games (no starts) for Florida this past season — her redshirt freshman year.
After sitting out the 2016-2017 season, she’ll have two years of eligibility left. Young was ranked as the No. 10 guard in the country by HoopGurlz coming out of high school.
She is the second transfer Syracuse has added for the 2017-2018 season. The Orange also added Wagner guard Jasmine Nwajei, who led the nation in scoring.
Syracuse is coming off the best season in program history that ended in a national championship game loss to Connecticut. After the 2016-2017 season, the Orange will have to replace starting guards Alexis Peterson, Brittney Sykes and forward Isabella Slim.
