Class of 2018 dual-threat quarterback Chance Amie flipped his commitment from Houston to Syracuse and signed his national letter of intent with the Orange on Wednesday, per a Tyler Lee (Texas) High School Football Tweet.

A Texas native, Amie originally committed to Houston on June 26. Amie took an official visit to Syracuse last week, on December 15.

By signing his NLI today, Amie took advantage of the NCAA’s new early signing period, which opened today at 7 a.m. The period ends on Friday, Dec. 22 at 11:59 p.m.

Amie played at Robert E. Lee High School, where he amassed more than 2500 total yards his senior season (1438 passing, 1066 rushing) and 26 total touchdowns, per 247sports.com. The 6-foot-3, 191-pound prospect has a three-star rating in 247sports’ composite rankings.

Amie runs a 4.55-second 40-yard dash to go with a 4.29-second shuttle and a 32.6-inch vertical leap, per his Hudl.com profile.

Flipping his pledge to Syracuse, Amie shunned the Cougars as well as scholarship offers from Iowa State, Central Florida, North Carolina and Florida Atlantic, among others. On Tuesday night, 247sports gave a 75 percent chance that Amie stuck with the Cougars.

Importantly for Dino Babers and Syracuse, Amie fills the hole at quarterback in SU’s Class of 2018, which had been vacant. Track the rest of the class here.
