Offensive lineman Javeion Cooper has committed to Syracuse’s 2026 class, he confirmed on social media Tuesday. Cooper is SU’s fourth 2026 commitment, joining cornerback Jaxson Gates, running back D’Antae Sheffey and receiver Maurice Medley.

Cooper received offers from Florida State, Penn State and Pittsburgh, among other Division I programs, before choosing the Orange. The 6-foot-4, 295-pound lineman visited SU’s campus in late November for its upset victory over then-No. 8 Miami, according to 247Sports.

Cooper, a junior at Melbourne Central Catholic High School in Florida, is graded as a four-star offensive tackle by On3. The site ranks him as a top-100 player in the hotbed recruiting state, and as the No. 37 offensive tackle in Florida.

With Cooper’s height, he’ll likely continue to play tackle at the FBS level, though SU may work to bump him above 300 pounds. Syracuse head coach Fran Brown has put an emphasis on signing big players since his hire in November 2023. Cooper adds another layer to that sentiment as the Orange’s first offensive line commit in the 2026 class.
