Krautman’s status in question for Wagner

Syracuse was left with a handful of players banged up after its 48-27 loss to Northwestern on Saturday.

Tight end Beckett Wales missed the entire second half. Quarterback Drew Allen came out with most of the first-team offense for the final drive after being hit hard on an interception.

Ryan Norton also replaced Ross Krautman, and the kicker’s apparent injury is the one that head coach Scott Shafer is most concerned about.

“We’ve got a couple guys that I think are going to be fine,” Shafer said. “The one I’m waiting on is Ross Krautman.”

Shafer was asked specifically about Wales, who was walking around with a boot on his left foot on Monday, but didn’t address the tight end’s health specifically.

Both Wales and Krautman missed time in training camp — Krautman with a confirmed groin injury — and the kicker missed an extra point on Saturday.

“He’s got an injury he’s had for a long time,” Shafer said, “and we’re waiting to hear back exactly where we’ll stand with him.”
